6 Things to Consider When Eloping
Many couples choose to elope on a whim.
They start planning a traditional wedding, quickly realize that sucks, say "f*ck it," & decide to elope.
That's great & I obviously support you.
But eloping still requires some decisions & planning, so I've come up with a handy-dandy list to make eloping easier.
1. Legal Requirements
First & foremost, unless you don’t care about getting legally married, do your homework.
Check any waiting period regulations in the state/country you want to elope in. This period can be on the front end or after you apply for the marriage license. Some states even require a blood test.
If you are getting married in a different country, research what paperwork is necessary. It's typically a lot.
2. What it means to you
Will it be just the two of you?
You wake up one morning & realize you can’t wait to marry this person. There is something very romantic about starting your marriage with just you & your person.
No muss, no fuss, all love.
Or is an intimate gathering more appealing?
Gone are the days where eloping has to be just you & your partner. Our fancy elopements allow for 8 or so guests.
An intimate gathering is a great solution for the couple who wants to surround themselves with their nearest & dearest, while still making each other the center of the day.
3. What it looks like
If you need more customization, but none of the stress, a fancy elopement may be for you.
4. Seriously, still have a photographer
No matter what way you chose to elope, for the love of god, get a photographer.
You will be kicking yourself if you don’t. Most offer elopement packages at a reduced price anyway, so cough up the cash.
Allow yourselves time for a killer portrait session.
5. How you’re going to tell people
Even if it’s just the two of you, still give your parents a heads up
If your mom is going to be pissed, give her a call ahead of time.
Some relatives will be upset, but stand your ground. They love you, will get over it, & really just want you to be happy.
Send them some pics by that professional photographer you got.
Elopement announcements are a thing
If you want to surprise everyone & you like snail mail, look into announcements. They are totally cute & your relatives will love hearing about it from you rather than Facebook.
6. Make it a vacation
You’re getting married! Why not roll that elopement into a honeymoon?
Take a few days (or a few weeks if you’re lucky) & take advantage of all of the things your elopement location has to offer.
In fact, I already made you an awesome itinerary for anyone eloping in Austin, Texas.
Alright, kids, that's it. Now, let's get you married.
Choosing to elope should be less stressful, not more
Let us make your day both beautiful & seamless.
